These tools allow you to download videos from popular sites such as Google Video, YouTube and other video sites.

I think the interface of this converter is very streamlined and easy to use. Simply enter the URL of the video that you want, and choose what format that you would like it in after you download it and click 'Convert and Download' to get it on your computer. File types include mpg, mov, mp3, mp4, flv and 3gp.

Zamzar

You can paste the address of a video into Zamzar and select what file format that you would like the final video to be. Zamzar then converts it and sends you an email when it is finished.

This site will allow you to download the video file as an flv file which you then need to have a player that can play this file type such as VLC player.

Downloads as a FLV file and then you need a free player (one is linked to on their site) to play the movie.
